Benefits for Business

How does an organization like the WIB help local businesses?

Working with the community, the WIB identifies the needs of employers in high demand industries and convenes partners to provide the local labor pool with the skills needed to meet these needs.

Future Labor Conditions

Data provided by the 2006/2007 Twin Cites Greater Metropolitan Workforce Regional Assessment for a Competitive Economy report shows that by 2012 there will be an expected 1,978,200 available jobs metro-wide. The problem? There will only be 1,779,200 people in the workforce available to fill them.

How We Serve Businesses

The WIB makes a difference through the creation of community partnerships that work to address critical challenges faced by local businesses in Ramsey County such as:

The WIB’s Healthcare Initiative trains job seekers and incumbent workers for Medical Billing and Coding careers and was created in response to needs expressed by local healthcare employers. The training offers blended instruction provided by Saint Paul College and Saint Paul Public Schools’ Adult Basic Education (ABE), fully supporting ABE learners in their understanding of the Medical Billing and Coding content. In addition to the partnership of the WIB, ABE and Saint Paul College, the initiative is supported by additional community partners and employers.

These include the:

  • Training and hiring needs of local manufacturers
