Vision:
The Ramsey County Workforce Investment Board will be the recognized
leader in identifying future workforce issues and developing
appropriate responses to those issues.
Mission:
The Ramsey County Workforce Investment Board will be the catalyst
for comprehensive workforce development strategies that address both
employer and jobseeker needs.
Who We Are
The Ramsey County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) serves
businesses and job seekers in Ramsey County through innovative
community partnerships.
The WIB is comprised of community leaders in business,
community-based organizations, education, labor, and economic
development, along with local elected officials and workforce system
staff. The 33-member board representing Ramsey
County and the City of Saint Paul focuses on:
- Oversight of the area’s workforce development initiatives
- Convening and coordinating community partnerships to meet needs
What We Do
The organization is one of many WIBs across the country directed
by the federal government, through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
of 1998, to unify and further develop the workforce system, which
includes:
- Employment training
- Literacy
- Vocational rehabilitation programs
- Services that are provided by the Minnesota WorkForce Centers and
focus on:
-Low-income youth, adults and families
-Workers dislocated from their job
-Those who need rehabilitative services to gain employment
